The Elk Creek Citizens' Library Committee is a non-profit organization established by Elk Creek residents to help the library grow and connect with the community.

We also publish the Elk Creek Bugler, a monthly newsletter about the Library and the greater Elk Creek area.

Article I

Section 1:

The name of this corporation is: Elk Creek Citizens' Library Committee (The Committee)

Article II

Section 1:

This corporation is a non-profit PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION and is not organized for the private gain of any person. It is organized under the Non-Profit Public Benefit Corporation Law of California for public and charitable purposes.

Section 2:

The specific purposes of this organization shall be:

To foster closer relations between the Elk Creek free public library (the Library) and the citizens of Elk Creek and its environs.

To promote the knowledge of its functions, resources, services, and needs of the Library.

To enrich the Library resources through funds derived from memberships and donations and to encourage gifts of desirable collections of books and other publications, acceptable works of art, music, endowments, and bequests.

To foster the development of cultural, educational and literacy programs for the community, centered in the Library

Article III

Article IV

Section 1:

This corporation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3), Internal Revenue Code. The purposes and activities of this organization are limitd to those within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Section 2:

No substantial part of the activities of this corporation shall consist of carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate or intervene in any political campaign (including the publishing or distribution of statements) on behalf of any candidate for public office.

Article V

Section 1:

The Committee may be dissolved at any time by a majority vote of the members.

Section 2:

The property of this corporation is irrevocably dedicated to charitable purposes and no part of the net income or assets of this corporation shall ever inure to the benefit of any director, office, or member therof or to the benefit of any private person. Upon dissolution or winding up of this Corporation, its assets remaining after payment, or provision for payment, of all debts and liablities of this corporation shall be distributed to a nonprofit fund, foundation, or corporation which is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes and which has established its tax exempt status under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3).
